Vessel tank internal coating is traditionally carried out by technicians. We started our research and development on the automation of internal tank coating operations, with the aim of utilizing the know-how accumulated on site over many years and the skills of competent technicians. During the development on the automation of internal tank coating, vagueness which existed in previous assumptions and the technicians’ skills were exposed and resolved.
Because not only automation but also digitalization and quantification of the operation are necessary, this research and development plays an important role at the coating business division regarding improvement of coating technique and production management technology. Through research and development and training of technicians, we develop high-quality techniques and improved production management systems, and continuously provide consistent coating to both domestic and overseas shipbuilding and maritime industries in order to add extra value to vessels.
